1.11 Police Caution
Government agents detaining or arresting an individual should, as soon as practicable outline the rights of that individual while they are in custody. Failing to outline these rights may prevent Government agents from using anything that individual says while they are in custody as evidence.
The recommended structure of these rights can be found below, minor deviations from this are permitted.
"You do not have to say or do anything, anything you say or do can be used in evidence. You have the right to a phone call, and to seek legal representation if one is available, otherwise you may contest your charges after your release".
The police are required to reach out to legal representation on behalf of the suspect if requested.
