1.0 - Staff Discretion

Staff discretion means that sometimes, staff may issue bans or disciplinary intervention based on reasons not directly or specifically mentioned in this document.

Staff discretion is not used lightly and generally will involve discussion amongst several staff members handling the matter. Staff discretion will only be used following extensive research and investigation by the staff team and may take into account a range of criteria such as social, cultural, and community needs

  • Discretion may be used to handle toxic and/or harmful actions or situations. For example – bullying, harassment, out-of-server toxicity.

  • Staff may use their discretion in order to protect the reputation and image of the community.

  • Discretion is used with the best interests of the greater community at mind, including players, community, and the server’s infrastructure.

Staff take measures to ensure that any discretionary measures are done as fairly as possible. Staff acknowledge that their discretion carries a great amount of power over the community and consult amongst each other to ensure that a number of perspectives are addressed and heard when making these decisions.
